The myth of Badgeman

Almost weekly I receive emails from people seeking my opinion on “Badgeman”, the alleged figure in the Moorman photograph, discovered by researchers Jack White and Gary Mack in the nineteeneighties. Frequently these people also ask my opinion on the involvement of the Corsican shooters as first revealed in the 1988 British documentary “The men who killed Kennedy”.

Well, on these pages I will explain that this is all a diehard myth. It deserves note however that this documentary triggered my interest in the case, mainly because I saw Jack Ruby’s statements on camera for the first time. I will also say that initially I found the presentation of the theory on the Corsican shooters pretty compelling. Nevertheless, most people don’t know that the theory has been decisively debunked, even to the consent of the original creators, investigative journalist Steve Rivele and documentary maker Nigel Turner.

As for Rivele’s thoughts on the theory today, here is what he said:
“I believe that Sarti was involved, but apparently I was wrong on the other two.”

Now, let us first have look at the Moorman photo:



Now let us focus on the area where the so called Badgeman figure is located:



I guess you don’t see Badgeman right away in the blowup above. Therefore we wil magnify him with a clearer picture, “enhanced” by Badgeman believers:



Still don’t see him? How about this picture?

In fact Jack White and Gary Mack see three figures there. The middle one is Badgeman, left is dubbed Gordon Arnold, and right is another accomplice of Badgeman, dubbed “hardhat man”. I have outlined the figures in the picture below:



And in this picture I have filled them up in red color:



The first oddity is that all these three figures are the same size and height, while Gordon Arnold is assumed to stand behind the concrete wall. That is at least 15 feet closer the camera than the other two figures, so the last two schould actually be smaller, simply because they are farther away from the camera. But let us now outline the three figures in the complete Moorman picture below:



You see? This picture proves beyond any doubt that the three perceived figures are nothing more than blobs and shadows, and certainly not human beings. Unless they were children, because they are much too small to be adults. Compare them for example with Zapruder and Sitzman on the right of the picture.

Conclusion 1: Although Gordon Arnold’s story appeared very compelling, there is no photographic evidence whatsoever that he was where he said he was. Moreover, his story that the policeman kicked and threathened him and took his film, should have been seen by at least some of the witnesses. This should at least have taken 15 seconds at a time that virtually everybody was looking at the knoll or running towards it. Therefore I dismiss Arnold’s story completely.

Conclusion 2: Badgeman is non existent, nothing more than a diehard myth.

But if you still like to cling on to Gordon Arnold, defying the laws of physics and human dimensions, then try to point out Badgeman kicking Gordon Arnold and robbing his film in any of these pictures:

But heck, I also realise that not everyone accepted that the world was round when the evidence was presented to them.
